A Tunbridge wells healthcare company has raised £500 for Hospice in the Weald by setting aside £50 for every mattress it has sold since February.

HealthMatters, based in the High Brooms Industrial Estate, will continue its fundraising efforts and plans to raise at least £1,000 for the charity this year.

Staff presented the money to the hospice's corporate and community fundraiser Amanda Wyatt at the HealthMatters warehouse, and Tunbridge Wells MP Greg Clark was also on hand to show his support.

Managing director Therese Kelly, said: "We are delighted to support such a good cause. The hospice is an essential part of the local community."

The company, which was founded in 2001, supplies a range of daily living aids for mobility impaired people.

It has recently launched a new range of hypo-allergenic foam mattresses, designed to improve sleep quality by contorting to an individual's shape.

Customers who pay a £50 refundable security deposit have a risk-free period of 30 days to trial a new mattress. The new mattress will be fitted and the old mattress put into storage.

Mr Clark said: "HealthMatters has just won an award for the quality of its staff and it is no surprise to me it is also doing great work for local charities. Giving a donation for every sale of a mattress is an innovative way to raise funds and I am delighted it has been so successful."
